College Avenue Plaza

The crossroads formed by the intersection of College Avenue and the proposed Raritan Mall will become a signature place on the campus, where campus transit, commerce, social life, and education intertwine. Here, at the center of College Avenue, in front of Brower Commons and the Rutgers Student Center, a new public plaza will celebrate the everyday life of the campus, where students can enjoy food and refreshments, relax on a lawn or near a water feature, study while they wait for the bus, or participate in a rally. The Central Plaza, extending from Senior Street to Bartlett Street, is designed foremost for the pedestrian, and is a space that accommodates the diversity of campus and city life.
