College Avenue Plaza—Intercampus Transportation Hub

The Intercampus Transportation Hub establishes a clear transit anchor at the northern limits of College Avenue Plaza. More than a simple shelter, it is intended to serve as an architectural statement and aesthetic feature of the campus. The prominent bus hub both acknowledges the importance of the intercampus bus system on this decentralized campus and celebrates the significance of bus travel in the student culture of Rutgers.

In order to create the central pedestrian plaza, a section of College Avenue between Senior Street and Bishop Place will be closed to traffic except for buses and emergency vehicles. The street pavement will be narrowed to allow for a single lane of buses moving in the direction of downtown New Brunswick. Cars diverted from the closed section of College Avenue will use Senior Street, Sicard Street, and Bartlett Street as alternate routes.
