Intercampus Transportation Hub

The “before and after” images looking south toward the College Avenue Gym illustrate the integration of architecture and the landscape features along College Avenue. The Intercampus Transportation Hub is an efficient structure whose design is dictated by issues of safety, comfort, and necessity. The hub’s length is dictated by a desire to be able to queue three buses under shelter. The hub’s skin is positioned to direct pedestrian flow in a safe and efficient manner by preventing unsafe between-bus crossings. Further, the structure’s skin provides a continuous shelter from the elements while remaining transparent. The design’s lighting and transparency will create an enhanced feeling of safety in bus riders in the evening hours. The decision to maintain the intercampus bus hub on College Avenue ensures that the Central Plaza is used year-round by students, faculty, and visitors.
